My dealer is telling me that the Screamin' EagleŽ Big Twin Compensator part number
40274-08 is on backorder. Can anyone confirm that?

 

Did you check Zanottis, Chicagos, Suburban, Surdyke, etc to see if the part is available online? They'd probably have to put it on backorder too...

 

Confirmed on backorder, allegedly to be cleared from backorder 04-02-10

Having my dealer do several things and the Compensator is the only thing they are waiting on.
I normally do the majority of my own stuff but between all the OT I am working and not having any of the special tools I would need it was just easier to have them do it.

 

No dealers in IN showing as having in stock. A bunch of other dealers are showing in stock in other states, but a dealer generally won't sell a backordered part to another dealer because it is a cost to cost or a cost + 10% sale. They will only sell it to a customer as they would get full price. You could probably call one of the dealers that do have it in stock, give them a credit card number and then pay extra for shipping and have it shipped to you if you want it before the first week of April.

Looks like I was duped again. Mine has been on backorder from Chicago HD since 2/18. I was told at that time the next release date was 3/19. I was also told that they had checked every dealer in the U.S. and there were none in stock anywhere.

I haven't called them yet this week. It looks like I should. They hit my credit card on 2/22 for this part and all the others that are not backordered, but they are waiting to ship them all at the same time.

I have one on order also and was told 4/2/2010 was the ship date.
