05 flhr roadking with carb
have true duel rhinehart exaust and se 1 breather want to upgrade motor to 95 any suggestions on configuration? what is the best bang for the least buck?

You cant use a power commander on a carbed bike.

 

change your jets or carb!!!!!!!!!1

 

try to find an article by joe minton in american rider. he's done many constant velocity mods, and they do work. replacing the original needle with one from an 88 through 1990 sportster 1200, the stock needle will help a lot, as will knocking out the dummy plug in the bottom of the carb so you can adjust the idle mixture. you can do a few mods on the stock carb that will improve it considerably. after modded, they actually work very well. the next step up would be the screamin eagle carb, which is a mikuni. a 42mm would be plenty for your motor. google joe minton cv carb, you'll surely find his tricks in there. hope this is helpful to you. forget about the power commander, because instead, there are certain years of ignition modules you can use to get better advance for timing, etc.

 

Carb, Power Commander, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no.

 

Buy a ThunderSlide for that carburetor. Properly installed and jetted it will increase mileage, throttle response, and performance.

 

This question reminds me of a time when I guy asked me which plug wires would give him the best performance on his new diesel truck............

sorry I know better now, not that tech savy yet on all this stuff spent to much time on looks of bike, now im try to make it go LOL. still learning just to many different things that can be done and trying to sort them all out

understand some want to laugh at my question but we all have to start somewhere learning, I have alway just rode and let the mech take care of the bike but now i am trying to learn and do some of it myself...

 

Sorry if I made you feel I was poking fun at you, but I guess it was. I am sure I have asked questions that others who knew more than me about the subject made fun of in some way or another.

Bottom line is, fuel management systems like the power commanders, serts or whatever work with ecms in one way or another for fuel injected motors.

There is probalby somebody out there who knows how you could enhance the performance of your carbed bike with one and thinks I am silly for not knowing that, but I don't see how a pc could help you out with a carbed bike.

Either put a thunderslide kit in the stock CV and jet it properly or buy a 42MM Mikuni easy kit and put the supplied mileage kit(pump nozzle & needle) in. They are pretty reasonable from Jireh cycles or on ebay. I have a 42 Mikuni on my bike and the ol lady has a CV with thunderslide on sportster. They both work well but the mikuni gets 50 MPG on a 100 HP dyna superglide.
