Default Road King - Classic or Standard

I am currently shopping for a Road King and am trying to decide between the Classic and the Standard. I see Classic bags on Craigslist often and rarely see hard bags. That has me thinking that people on Classics are changing to the hard bags? Just looking for your experiences and what helped you make the decision.

Thanks,

Tom

Back in 03 I was going through the same decision. Went with the Standard because I wanted the hard bags. I also thought it would look better blacked out than the more retro look of the classic.

The classic has a shorter seat height and the retro look. I haven't had a single issue with the bags and I am in and out of them every day.

I like the look of the color matched hard bags better. They also have keyed locks and provide better weather protection. I use my bike for running all kinds of errands when the weather permits.

Some people prefer the look of the leather bags. Go with your gut.

I like the look of the hard bags myself.

I'm a leather bag fan - no good reason other than I like the look...

If you want ground clearance go for the standard. It has a 17 inch front wheel and the classic has only a 16 inch. I want lockable hard bags for me.

Tough choice for many. The classic is, well "classic"; the standard is more "hot rod". I went with "hot rod."

If it matters to you, there is more room in the hard bags than the leather ones.
