I just changed the oil in my 2010 Ultra and tried the Red Line Trans and Primary oils for VTwins. I was amazed at the difference in how the trans shifts and it is a little quiter too. It might be physcological but it seems quieter anyway. The trans oil was really thick which suprised me after using Syn3 but it seems to shift smoother and doesn't clunk into gear anymore. I put the same stuff in my sons 2004 Softail and he has the same effect but was even more suprised than I was. I'm a new believer.
Been using the redline for the tranny for several years now I am taking my 2010 Ultra for its first service in a couple of weeks and have allready arranged to have it put in the tranny even though my dealer dosent sell it. It is well worth the cost.
I used Amsoil trans oil for a year thinking it was the best oil to use. I was pleasantly surprised at the difference I noticed when I switched to Redline. Like you stated . . . much quieter and smoother especially when hot. I'm a true believer in the "Pepto" oil.
I had been using syn3 in all 3 since first service in 06,till I had the bike in the shop last spring. My tech suggested the redline, stating some issues with the syn3 in the trans,I didn't ask for details but the redline is much better in my opinion.
