Off topic, but several weeks back a plastic bag flew up, and hooked onto my clutch lever while riding on the freeway at ~70mph. Needless to say the nerves settled in as the bag was pulling hard. I managed to unhook the bag and let it go ... it took me awhile (15~20secs). You can never predict what can all occur.
Hope the cleaning suggestions help.
Ride Safe.

FINALLY! After two days of trying Easy-Off that worked somewhat, not great, I got on the BOSS, rode like hell, healed up the pipes, and then took a old towel and rubbed the plastic crap off. Hope I never see another plastic bag again-ever!! Appreciated all the in-put. Semper Fi... Master Guns

ooh-RAH!

Just spent some time with 00 steel wool and some blue off polish on mine.

Just a tip, don't drop a cheapo micro fiber towel on your pipes, big time mess!

i also hate the "urban tumbleweeds" as i like to call the walmart bags. whatever you do, don't use steel wool, no matter how fine, as it will cause micro fractures in the chrome. i can't believe how many people suggest it, even if using it with oil, it still is an abrasive and chrome doesn't like abrasives. easy off sprayed onto a cotton cloth even though a bit caustic will not dig into the chrome.

while the pipes are hot, i got a big wad of tissue paper put some water on them and rubbed the plastic off quickly.

another way, put some fuel on a rag and "warm" up the pipes, do not have the pipes too hot, just warm enough... rub and everything will come off, i did that for some Boot marks left by my passenger... works fine.

The first time I dealt with messy chrome exhaust was the last time.Since then have always had black exhaust. For me it was the only way to go.Good luck with yours.
