Default Stiff Clutch, just b/c it's new?

Hey guys, anyone who has seen my other posts knows my bike is down right now but I've been riding my dad's 1982 FLH. I've only rode it twice so maybe I need to get used to it(especially going fro 5 gears to 4 gears)??? but the clutch is pretty new & it is very stiff. I thought my dad was just old when we complained about his clutch but it has an all or nothing kind of feel(if the clutch lever isn't touching my grip from squeezing it so hard the clutch isn't fully engaged). It could just be me(probably is) since it's a completely different bike but I mean after 2 rides yesterday my hand still hurts today & to me that seems like something is off.
Anyways it would be nice to confirm that I have delicate little hands lol or that the clutch could use a minor adjustment so it doesn't require so much force to use.

The older ones had a much stiffer clutch than the newer ones. It would not hurt to check the adjustment and lube the cable.

May be need to adjust your clutch in the primary some times that can cause it to be very stiff.Or could be a bad clutch rod.

I'll look into those suggestions, thanks guys. It's fine for riding long country roads but around town on stop & go it is a real pain & I just wanted to see if there was a quick & easy solution.
