Default Hawks on a Harley??? (brakes)

my ride = 2005 FLHTCUI Ultra

I do allot of "inner city", stop and go riding.

Obviously that means braking, braking and more braking.

I'm getting tired of changing OEM Harley pads so often (they SUCK).

Looks like HAWK makes some decent pads.

Anyone have first hand experience with these???

Which version is better as far as dust, dry/wet performance, noise, wear, etc....

NAO ORGANIC or SINTERED METALLIC ????

FLHTCU-I Front HB44002G HB44002M

FLHTCU-I Rear HB44002G HB44002M

Thanks guys.

I've used there brake pads on race cars & they are very good quality, didn't realize they made pads for Harleys. I'm currently using DP pads in the HH compound & they're great, the friction level is very high so you don't need as much pressure on the brake lever. I don't know if they're for everyone because they would probably lock up easier, but they sure do stop well. I would think they should be excellent for ABS equipped bikes or those experienced with high threshold braking. I'll check into their cost & think about using them for my next set of front pads.

I've never used Hawks. Does anybody know who makes HD pads?

I put Hawks (HPS I think) on the front of my Nissan 350Z. They seem to hold much better, less chatter, and at least 99% less brake dust than the OEM's.

Never heard EBC double sintered pads...Last a long time...i am at about 32000 miles on my fronts...Really improved the stopping power.

I put Hawk HPS on my 1984 Vette - very quiet - very effective - and NO dust. WORTH every extra penny.

But they don't make HPS for scoots.

So I'm trying to figure out which is better: GG NAO organic or HH+ sintered metallic with stock rotors ????

I have no clue and am looking for someone with experience. Hawks hasn't returned my calls/emails yet.

Thanks.

Dave H.

You have it backwards, the HH is sintered & the GG is organic, the HH is higher performance & higher friction level, I'm just guessing that the the GG would compare to the HPS. The HPS is an entry level medium performance street pad, still much better than stock.

I doubt that the OEM pads in a 2005 Ultra are Hawks - too much freaking black dust - horrid

So - anyone out there - would you get the organic or sintered and why???

Thanks Dave H.
