I can't believe I read all of this. A happy ending? Interesting post though. I found that over the past couple years my SG has transformed into an Ultra SG. That being said, I like the fact I can quickly remove everything and I have a completely different scoot.

In a few years I might need to go with an Ultra, but mods never stop. Never!

You may want to also consider the fairing air deflectors. I went to a taller shield and the buffeting continued. Added the deflectors and the buffeting is gone! I absolutely love my '10 SG for a variety of reasons and even more so now that I have the fairing wings. I ride solo as my wife rides her own but if that were to change and I rode 2 up, I would definitely make same changes to the SG for that type of riding on a regular basis. Hope it works out for you.

Trishi, Give the bike some time and make it the way you want it. I was fortunate that the previous owner made some worthwhile upgrades (see sig). Street Glides no matter what the year are great bikes. I think about riding mine every minute of the day and look deep for an excuse to do so without pissing my wife off. BTW, I have a new windshield on the way also.

Flip.

+1 Never assume.
That said I'm sure you can customize it and feel better about it.
I have a 08 EG that will rattle your teeth at idle. I do agree with ya that the shake feels good.

Great to hear, and I think I know what you are talking about in terms of wind on that bike. I test rode the Street Glide, hated the helmet buffeting I got on it, and went with the Road King because it's a hell of a lot easier to cut down a windshield than a fairing. (Chuckle, chuckle, chuckle.)

I've cut my windshield down so low that there's not much of it left, but it gives me clean, smooth wind to ride in at speed without the stupid helmet buffeting.

All the fast Tourer types ride Road Kings.

The slow ones ride Street Glides because at 27 mph, it's hard to detect any buffeting, never mind wind.

I can save you money on that 5K depreciation everyone is talking about.

I'll take your bike and 3K in trade. Depending on the color of course!

That is some funny $hit no matter what you ride. Stupid, but funny. Come ride with me behind a SG and let's see if you can keep up LOL!
