Default Rear tire by yourself

Anybody have a good method to put your rear wheel back on the bike when you're by yourself? I always end up calling my wife out to hold it while I poke the axle back through and juggle all the other components. God knows that's always an argument waiting to happen...

I make sure I can easily adjust the jack height so I can "lower" the bike onto the wheel. Then I use a ratchet extension through one side to hold the wheel and spacer in line - then I only have to farkle with the other side.

It's still a pain since the cush drive tends to "expand" a little once the wheel is off the bike.

With my bike raised on my lift, I use a small floor jack to jack the tire up
and hold it while I put in the axle and juggle around the rear brake caliper.

I just lean over lift with one hand and install the shaft with the other. Use your foot to hold the bearing. But if that don't work you may want to consider buying a monkey. HAHA!

Actually once you do it a few times and have enough stub'rness it goes just fine by your self.

Will try the floor jack next time... I pushed a cinder block under it and then adjusted the height with a few small boards.

i use a ratchet strap thru the wheel and over a cushion on the seat to lift the tire and wheel to proper height.

I also use the dual-jack technique--bike jack for the bike, floor jack for the wheel. It's still a wrestling match getting it all back together, but this is the best method I've come up with.

Does anyone have an easy solution to getting the tire past the rear brake caliper? It always gets in the way, and the only thing that helps is to deflate the tire first so it can bend around the caliper.
