Stuck a washer on the right side and it's MUCH easier to mount now. Might stick one on the left to see if it's even better but the bolt is kinda buggered up so I might just wait til I get a new one.

I had the same fun-and-games with my '07, which turned out to entail most of one afternoon instead of the 15 min. I anticipated for installation. That's about how long it took to install the docking kit on my '96 RK, but the parade of progress never stops, and in this case shifted into reverse between '96 and '07. The OP's '08 has the same frame as my '07 so I can sympathize, but I thought '09's and later were much easier, almost a quick bolt-in--but reports from at least one of you has me wondering.

It appears the instructions have not improved, so some things don't seem to improve with HD. Other than my cam job, that was the most involved project I've undertaken on a Harley. At least on the cam job the instructions were clear and there wasn't any guesswork involved.

I had about the same probs as yall did. I used mine for a solo back rest. The HD kit moved it up too far. So I had to take back off and fab a plate to move it back 2" and then put it all back on again. Wait, that's not all. Went out to check my rear shock pressure and guess where the valve stem is now. You guessed it. Now I have to relocate it now. It just never ends.

Put front/rear on the 07 Road Glide yesterday. If they would just use ONE good color photo of everything in place it would clear up a lot of confusion. I only needed to remove one spacer to get the tour pack aligned but I have to add one to the front bag mount.

I had the same thought about doing the front and rear kit at the same time. Figured "as long as I'm back there, might as well only take it apart once...." That first bolt came out and "bong!" Everything jumped out of alignment. I'm still not sure how I got it back together by myself, but I'm thinking anything short of 3 extra hands wouldn't have been enough.

If I had done the front docking kit and not done the rear, there's no way I'd do the rear now. I don't care how bad I wanted a tour pak or whatever else mounts back there. That's one job I would gladly pay the dealer to do knowing what I know now.

Should have just had the dealer do it. Just broke a bracket bolt off in the welded nut! Done for the day! As usual, the MoCo instructions SUCK!

First time to post, but here goes. I have a 97 ultra and want to do a quick connect for the tour pak.. Every docking hardware says not for my bike. What is the issue, the cb or what...I don't mind losing the cb, but I want to keep the rear speakers etc.
