I'd say no-- Deer that cross the road are typical spooked. Sometimes the alerts spook them in the wrong direction and you end up hitting them. Other times they go back to the woods/fields.

One way to avoid hitting deer is not to ride at night !!! I on the just slow down and take my time in highly wooded areas to look for deer.

Got a bud that spent the big bucks for the SE model (electrically powered) and qualified the purchase by saying the unpowered models aren't loud enough. After I nearly peed myself from laughter I had to ask the obvious: Who trains the deer to run away from the road when they hear one of those?

A little fun here -

News Flash!!! Wallmart is selling silent high-frequency bug alerts proven to warn flying insects of your high speed approach. Very effective at keeping those nasty critters off of your scoot. Gotta have me one of them.

We had them on many of our semis that drove in northern WI.
The deer would knock the whistle off along with the fender.
But not one deer ever did it twice.

Deer are so stupid that they will run out in front of a semi, what makes you think a tiny whistle that you can't hear will stop them.
