It's a big air cooled motor, and you're sitting right on top of it. They get hot.

I'm not sure if the Limited's have an oil cooler as standard. I've got an ex-police bike with the same 103 motor, and they all came with oil coolers. It helps a little. If you haven't had your bike dyno tuned yet, that might help also, if your bike is running lean.

i've got to take my limited in next week for the 5000 service. The only time I've really thought the heat was bad was after a 175 highway run at 80 mph that ended in a bumper to bumper traffic jam. The rear cylinder cut our kicked in every time I was at idle. But even then it wasn't unbearable.

I haven't decided whether to replace the header pipes, ac mufflers and have it tuned yet.

You will appreciate the heat when it's cold.

Default Easy fix

Just get yourself a set of the heat deflectors. Made the world of difference on my 09RK

No more unusual heat problems for the rest of the 70 mile trip. Any ideas?
When I bought my 2010 Ultra, I found both the engine and transmission oil levels to be on the low side. Never assume the individual that put your bike together checked everything.

Get ya a set of these deflectors: http://www.rjsoriginals.bizland.com/ His slogan is "No More Fried Thighs" and could not be a truer statement.

Yea, they cost more than the cheap @$$ed Harley or Kury deflectors but worth the extra coins. They are made in the good Ole USA at his shop, they look like they belong on the scoot, and are not some ugly plastic after thought that sooner or later will crack or melt. Oh yea, they work too!! I visited Bob and his lady last year and got to see how he makes them. They put me up for the night and fed me steak too! Good people...Quality product...

After you spend a pile of cash on engine mods to cool it down, you will still have heat issues, or at least I did. Prolly the best, actually works as advertised money I spent on my bike. Give him a call and tell him "Duck Butter" sent ya...

He is a forum sponsor and hangs out on here from time to time also. His user name is "zoood", look him up!

I'm not noticing enough heat right now!

Course it was 39 degrees when we went out for bit of a spin yesterday...

Not to highjack here but, which of those would you say you liked best?
