upgrade or new bike

You know now that you've posted the question here. That more than tells me your ready for another bike. A change of scenery.
No matter what you do to it, it's still going to be your same 05 RK. If you can afford to buy another and keep the King, Great.
If your asking, it sounds like your getting bored of it as it is now.

Lot's of answers, but... Are you a 3-4,000 mile a year week-end poser? Or a 30-40,000 mile/ year rider? Makes all the difference.
Ok, hold onto your seat for a dumb question from a still new to the forum guy. I just wanted to see what the feelings were by the people here. What do you all think is the smartest route to go (I wont be doing this anytime soon),
1. Buy a new Harley
or
2. Buy a new, much bigger motor, trans, etc and make one nasty machine out of the current ride
I realize costs will ultimately may not be that far apart once you buy a new bike and do all the standard "customizing stuff".
I can see the advantages to both but what is your opinion?

Have to remember, what you put into it, you probably won't get it out of it when you sell it. It will still be an 05. Cheaper now but costs ya come selling or trade time. It could even cost ya more because some people don't like to buy bikes that have had motor work done.
I'd go new before I put thousands in an 05. You'll have the bigger motor, 6 speed, and a warranty. That's just me though. Have fun which ever way you go.

You should probably ask yourself what it is about your current bike and/or the new bikes that causes you to consider replacing your current ride. I was in a similar position in late '08 and early '09 and was looking at replacing my bike. At some point I had an epiphany and realized that I really like my bike as I'd modified it over the previous four years and would add to any new bike what I'd done to my bike; and, what I really wanted was my bike but in a different color. So I repainted the bike candy red pearl and thoughts of a new bike have vanished.
You may conclude that you are basically bored with what you have and consider what you can do with your current ride to restore its WOW for you: a high performance 107, 113, 120 etc.; wheels and tires; custom paint; and, etc.
On the other hand, if you want to go from an RK to a fairing model, the economics change and you should probably change bikes.
Just my '02.
