Yes! That's exactly what I meant. Sorry I didn't make my post more clear.

I would hope so, lol. I found this thread today 5/7/22 as I encountered this problem on one of my pad bolts even though I used a 12 pt socket. Hoping to help someone else with a solution that worked for me. I did get a chuckle, thanks for the welcome.

It's possible the bike has been sitting for 13 years.

If you got a Dremel or a angle grinder with a thin disk on it you can put a deep straight grove in the bolt head to accept a large straight screwdriver. Clamp some vice grips to the screwdriver handle and turn. If your able put some heat from a torch on bolt before turning.

Oh for god sakes another old frickin thread. Shakin my head

One of the suggestions on this thread touched on my preferred method for removing Allen head bolts when the tool slipped inside the head and spun the hole out. I take a Torx (Star shaped bit) that's a bit too big and tappy tap it into the hole using a medium to spicy level of pursuasion. Throw the bolts away, of course, and install new ones. I have also had luck doing the same with an SAE or an Allen key that's .5MM larger than the fastener.

I have encountered this problem on the rear caliper bolts on softail models ( at least the ones in the 90's ) and we would weld a nut over the stripped bolts and then send them out for chrome. Never had to worry about stripping them again.
