Fuel filter
#12
I just did mine when I took my tank off for paint. I got my parts from Chicago HD on-line 20% all the time. Fuel filter kit 40.00 (ncludes new hose, hose clamp, filter and o-ring) gasket 6.00, and the screws were 8.00 for all ten. Just take your time putting the assembly back in you tank. The rest of the job is a cake'r. I had 24,000 mile on mine bike when I changed out the filter.

I had it done at 40,000 miles. 2005 RKC. Two new tires, new rotor, pads and fork oil changed etc, etc. Total cost was $1532.26. Half parts and half labor. (roughly) I don't have a problem with the cost but I'm real concerned about the work actually being done. (Doubting Thomas) Also had the shifter shaft seal replaced. (This was covered by the warranty) All in all I like to have confidence in these technicians as I'm blasting away at 85 plus MPH down the road.

Manual says 25K but it's really not that important if you use good reputable gasoline. All fuel stations have some sort of fuel filters, I just replaced mine at 54k + and we took it apart and it could go for another 54K miles without any problems.A friend of mine has 03 UC with 69K+ on it and refuse to waste his money unless it breaks down hopefully not too far from a HD shop or an open parts dept.

I ordered the 61001-01 kit from Zanotti's along with all the parts required to swap out my fork lowers on Wednesday. Just got an email that the filter was on back order until 11/19/2010. Not really a big deal, I can wait. I just wonder what the dealers have been doing.
