Default American Elite vs D407/D408 on new frame

Anybody try the new Dunlop American Elite for the new 09-10 frames, how are they compared to the D407/D408?

wow, 5 months out. do you expect them to be better than the D407/408 or about the same. I've got 10,100 on my 407/408 with 4/32's left on both front and back. Their site says the 408 front came with 5/32's new so I've got some excellent wear out of them so far.

You know just reading and also talking to the guy at my shop they have replaced over 100 of the 407's I have been lucky on mine due to I have about 11,000 miles on my front and rear tires. I sent an e-mail to Dunlop to see if they can shine some light on the tire question.

From what I read I believe the American Elite will be a good tire. With the 407/408 Harley can basically charge whatever they want because they are not available on the aftermarket.

Hi all, my first post so be gentle. Thought I'd comment on bmaier's report on the d408 mileage. I've got 10,000 miles on my '10 Ultra Limited and also have 4/32 on both front and back.

I'm hoping the rear will make 15,000 miles? Will probably replace both at that time to have new rubber for a late spring trip. Definitely improved mileage compared to previous Dunlops.

Check this site out.

They act like they have them, price and shipping. Probably not though.
