Default ECU difference

Calling on all experts on year model and ECU from the factory. I found out today that the first year HD installed Oxygen sensor on fuel injected model was the 07 models anything prior to that they were fuel injected but no oxygen sensor. Can someone educate me if the ECU from an 2006 96 will work of an 2007 96 if the oxygen sensors were removed on the 2007?

What was the factory AFR setting for the 2006 injected models?

Thank you. I was thinking that but needed some verification from experts. Back to the drawing board I guess. One question: What is the AFR set from the factory on those models with fuel injections without any O2? If you lean them out how does the ECU read the extra Oxygen in the exhaust and adjust AFR accordingly?
