Yeah welcome and all that stuff. But really, you only THINK ape hangers aren't for you. They really are perfect for you, of all riders..

Welcome to the forum. Lots of guys have had luck with the "heritage style" bars on Road Kings. Harley part #56902-08.

You're going to have to get out and look at some other bikes, though. Go down to the dealer and sit on whatever you can find. Depending on inventory, there might be something in their used bikes that will get you pointed in the right direction.

and +1 on what Carbidedude said......

hey route 66, your thread made me smile. we've all been in your shoes before. it's a great feeling to know that you've finally arrived. congratulations. now about beach bars, yeah, i suppose they're okay for some people, but i do work sometimes on a buddys stock roadking, same year matter of fact as yours, and the stock bars are quite comfortable for him, and i've ridden it several times, and i found them to be quite comfortable for me too. it's a personal choice though. don't get in a hurry, study the issue and you'll find what's just right for you. glad you finally showed up, dude.

nice bike and welcome to the forum. I to bought a Roadking last year, loved the bike hated the stock handlebars, I just had 16 in. apehangers installed after a year of hemin and hawin, thought they might be to high, after a 1.5 hour ride back from Daytona I could not wipe the $hizit eating grin off my face.

Default "New to me" also....

The Ultra I bought back in October was "new to me" also. It is the second Harley I've owned. It's a great way to get a lot of motorcycle for a great price and there are quite a few of them out there. Welcome to the HD family and I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

Welcome route 66. Take your time to check out what you want to change. Look at others and talk to the owners, you'll get great feedback.
