I dont even look for the 6th gear till I past 70-75mph anyway so no big deal!! I had a 95 and there was no noticeable difference than my 88 so again just dont think that us 5speeds with the 88 are missn that much!!photobucket

Your not, I took a road trip with the boys and because I had cams and everyone else was bone stock I had to raise my hand first for qas and of course we had a rice rocket with us who thought stopping every 140 miles was an a pain in the AZZ. So I decided that I would not be the hand raiser on the next trip. I pop it in to sixth gear all the time at 55 and set the cruise on the back roads of kansas just watching the wheat fields go by! The new 96 has the stroker bottom end with 88" pistons and produces 93 ftlb of Q at 3000 rpm witch for a stock harley is pretty decent. What does photobucket mean? SEPER FI!!

So let me get this right---you bought a 6-speed just to wrench on your scoot! Your my hero, can I borrow some $

Need not want not? I wanted one because I like twisting a wrench and doing things for myself instead of paying the stealer for every mod done to my bike!

I like the 6 speed much more than the old 5 speed, although you really don't use 6th under 65 mph at least. On my Low Rider with the 5 speed, I turned 3000 rpm at 70 (give or take a little), on my '07 Ultra I turn about 2400 rpm at 70. That makes a lot of difference - the Ultra feels like it's just loping along. It reminds me of an old BMW R100S I had in the late 70s, it feels best at about 75 to 80. The Low Rider felt best between 65 and 70, it was a bit buzzy above that.

On the other hand, if I had a 5 speed in a bike I loved, I wouldn't trade just to get the 6 speed. And the 96" engine doesn't feel much guttier than my old 88 (although the 96 is in a bike that weighs 170 lb more).

Just sold my 05 Fatboy for 18500. Had 20 into it. Picked up an 07 SG Saturday. Love it. Sold my wife's 06 street bob today for 14500. Had 16.5 into it. Guess what she's picking up NEXT Saturday? Yup an 07 SG.

SO if you want to part with you're old bike there are a ton of people who'll buy it for a good price. I just sold two bikes and it was no where near a 6000 loss.

Yea sounds silly but owning 5 different bikes modifying and then selling them as soon as your done all in 3 years probably isn't normal either. Do ya want to by the 5th one? I am ready for the 6th one. As for borrowing the money NO!! And as far as being your hero, I am sure your Dad would be disappointed to hear he isn't your hero!
