Default Found a nail in my rear tire today

Kinda bummed as it probably had another 2K left on it, but the 407 rear tires are great IMO, I got 14K out of this one and would have probably got to 16K or more if the nail wouldn't have been there. I'd consider plugging or patching it, but the tire is splitting on either side of the nail. First nail I've picked up in 55K + miles. Oh well, could be much worse.

Look on the bright side.......since you have to replace it now, you'll be starting the season out with new rubber!

I picked one up in my rear tire last fall also. Like you I only had maybe 1,000 miles left before I was going to replace it anyway. So I considered myself pretty lucky all in all. I was hoping to make it to the end of the riding season though. When I took it in to the dealer to replace the tire they said the same thing Kevin did. It could have been worse. They get a lot of people that pick up nails with very little miles on a tire.

Not too bad at 14k. Cannot tell you how many times I have had to replace tires with less than 1000 miles on 'em because they found a nail. Thos ecustomers tend to be a tad unhappy.

Consider yourself lucky to have gotten 14K out of it. I only get about 4K but I cant stay out of the throttle :-)
Sometimes the cords show after only 3k ........................ and a few beers!

Its all good though, I'm heading out to Tombstone, Az in 2 weeks so a new rear won't hurt a bit on that one. Might even Do the 15K service a tad early since I have to replace the tire as well. The good thing about being in San Diego though, the riding season never really ends.
