Purchase 09' classic that was dealer rental? Am I taking big risk here on bike that has 20k on it from unknown riders. The price is much lower than most 09' s that I see listed on craigs list.

 

What's the service history of the bike? Take it out for a spin and see how it rides. See if the dealer will offer an in-house extended warranty on the bike.

 

No ex-rentals for me, thank you...I'm sure they haven't been babied by every rider that rented them.

 

Id ask for the service records as mentioned above. Then I'd take it for a test ride and look it over really well. Basically just like any bike I'd buy used. I dont think there's an inherent risk in buying a rental that isnt there when buying another used bike. Either you like the bike or not, if the price is right... I wouldn't shy away just because of the dealer rental part, thats my .02

 

I think that the cost$ of the bike "out weighs" the risk. In other words, if you can get the ex-rental at a great price w/warranty I would buy it.

 

Like others have said. If the price is right. I don't like the thought of buying a bike that has had different owners every weekend, and those owners do not care about it. On the flip side the bike probably has had all it's service up to date seeing how it has been at the dealer.

 

Not for me. I know how I treat rental vehicles.

Have never rented a bike before....but back in my youth I used to rent cars
and take them to the local dragstrip for a Saturday afternoon.

I do not purchase rentals. Its like a roll of the dice picking up a rental. No one knows the complete history, including the dealer, how the bike was treated while it was off the property. Plus, it already has 20K on the odometer. If you do go with that bike, get some kind of fender to fender warranty from the dealer.
