Mine is mounted on the right hand switch housing. I really don't see a problem with my speaker, and I can see all of my guages with no issues. Ifyou do mount on the left, Zumo has a built in fuel gauge feature that only works when mounted on the bike. Just set how many miles you average on a tank, and reset when you fuel up. It'll give you a warning on the screen, and if you touch the warning icon, it pulls up the nearest stations.
+ 1 on the fuel tank mount-

The fuel tank mount looks like it might be the best idea so far. For anyone who has this set up, Do you have to disconnect it when fueling up?

I use a suction cup mount stuck to the tach glass. Don't see the point in a tach for a bagger during normal riding. Have a tether strap in case it falls off, but in 2 1/2 riding seasons and over 60k miles, the only time it ever fell off was in the garage.

They sell a mount that you can mount on your gas lid look great. I think I saw them on J&P cycles as well as other places. http://www.jpcycles.com/search/produ...=0&results=100

That does look nice, but do you want to be looking down like that all the time? I want my eyes on the road as much as possible and that setup looks like it would require looking down often, especially in areas with lots of turns or where you are unfamiliar. I think the fairing mount allows your eyes to return to the road quickest and you dont have to divert your line of sight as far.

That's why I have mine mounted up high so my eyes stay on the road...Ram Mounts....Plus it's not blocking anything...

This guy managed to have both. I found the pic on the web but I don't know what's involved to make it work.
