6th gear light will not stay lit-electrical?
For some reason, the 6th gear light will not stay on. It worked fine yesterday, today it will not stay on. Of course if the light is not lit in 6th, the cruise control will not work either. I am stumped, I looked through the manual and all over the bike and cannot find a sensor for the 6th gear indicator. Anyone else come across this problem before?

OK, been screwing with this thing all day. I believe it could be the clutch switch located in the left hand control. I found it throwing out code B1154 (direct to ground) for the switch. I have had all the wiring harness out twice today looking for a pinch or exposed wiring with not luck.
Tried to search for a part number for the switch as well with no luck. Anyone have the part number for the clutch switch on a 2009 FLTR?

A bad wire would do it. Any chance you changed tires to a different size or changed gearing? My light doesn't work either but that is because I changed my gearing on my clutch basket The light is designed to function based upon rpm vs. speed and changes in gearing effect this calculation. Ever notice the light goes out when you pull in the clutch?

It's interesting that you say the cruise and 6th gear light are connected/related. They are not on my 07 since I regeared my primary. Lost the 6th gear light, but cruise still works. Maybe that's why EVO says the regear will kill the cruise on the 08's and up. I can see the clutch switch affecting the cruise operation, and maybe even the 6th gear light if the ECM thinks the clutch lever is pulled in. Interested to know the outcome.

Thanks Dawg.
The cruise will cut off in any gear, I just happened to notice that the 6 gear light was cutting off at the same time. After a lot of riding in all gears today, the cruise still cuts out for all of them. That is why I am leaning towards the wiring for or the actual clutch switch.
I have not changed anything as far as gear or tire size. The cruise was working fine on Friday. Took the bike out of the garage and washed it Saturday morning, the cruise as not worked right since. At first I thought water might have gotten into something, but it should have dried out by now.
Anyway, if anyone has another idea please post.

It doesn't. It's identical to a brake switch. It retails for $59, but if you can find it's obsolete predecessor 71584-96B it will be $34. In Texas, the following dealers still show as having 71584-96B.
