Default 2010 Ultra Rear Shock Air Pressure

I've always run 15 psi on my bike when solo and 25 psi when fully loaded including passenger.

I am just curious as to what other Ultra riders are running on the 2009 and 2010 versions.

I'm going to try a lower psi, just haven't got around to it yet to see if that would smooth out some of the frost heaves around here.....

09 and 10 call for 40-50 lbs, I usually run around 48 because its mostly 2 up riding I do.

Thanks. I thought it was simply the new frame making this a rougher ride! I was just having trouble believing the owner's manual. It just sounded like way too much air pressure.

SO, thanks, I'll go pump 'em up and give it a try. I appreciate other's findings on this.

09 and 10's with the new frame call for a different range for the pressure in the rear shocks. I run between 30 and 35 in mine. I ride solo about 2/3's of the time and double the rest. Mine had 0 in it when I picked up from dealer.

You need to play around with the pressure. I am 190 lbs. It seems most people run higher pressures but I found I made things worse. On a trip last May I was running about 18lbs and it was downright painful over certain types of bumps. I would brace myself in anticipation of the hit. I then lowered the pressure to 12 lbs and the ride was much better. I occasionaly bottom out but not very often.

Is there any reason that I can not get more than 30 PSI in the rear shocks? 2010 Ultra Limited. 25000 miles

Thanks

FYI,your running well under HD's rec air pressure your your gen bike.

I have an 09 and it would be bottoming out often if i ran the low air pressure in stock shocks like you are.

Riding 1 up (170lbs) on my bike i run approx 25-30lbs & 2up (combined wt 310-315lbs) i run qpprox 35-40lbs with bags empty or lightly loaded & 50lbs with bags fully loaded.
