No More Clunk
#51
The clunk tells my wife it’s time to roll. If the clunk went away I would have to put some kind of clunk simulator for her benefit. By the way after reading the previous post some of you guys need to get out and ride once and a while. I know it’s been a long winter and cabin fever sets in. I am sure most take in the improvements mentioned here and have some fun doing it at the same time. This would be another boring web site and fade away if it read like a White Paper all the time.

I'm not razzed. Extremely dissapointed.
I just don't like being hounded by you or anyone else.
The OP tried to share his "new find" with the board. He got drowned with clunk lovers. I tried to give him support since I too had success with this great upgrade. Then I get the cross-hairs aimed at me.
Total ridiculous chit for a tech board.
We are supposed to be sharing ideas and helping each other.
This kind of crap discourages anything related to that.
Get it now?

Here's a thought for ya......the primary chain is left with freeplay causing the clunk, this said chain runs in an oil bath to keep it cool, why you asked? Cause when it gets hot in SHRINKS taking out some the freeplay. So you go on an adjust your chain to the point that it gets too tight and I'll clunk on by as you're cracking the cases open to replace bearings.

Frustrating at times , isn't it Ed? You know my views on the tensioner, but I will give you this. Any time you take extra chain pressure off of the bearing in the basket it reduces the rotational bearing drag between the inner and outter clutch hub making for less clunk. The fluid you use as well as atf won't stick the plates, aid better seperaton of the discs. Hard clunking and stiff shifting with a clunk can be eliminated almost totally with the right chain tension,(not possible with the HD ratchet) clutch adjustment and the correct fluid for a wet clutch.

Yea, I am having a rough time without the clunk, When I go to N at a redlight, and put it back in gear. I have stepped on the shifter a couple times, not sure if it was in gear or not. I slip the clutch a tad, and lo and behold, it moves! No clunk on my '10 SG from the get go.... Guess I'll have to get used to it.

These are AUTOMATIC tensioners that KEEP your chain at the right tension while HOT and while cold. THAT'S WHY I BOUGHT IT!
It keeps the chain adjusted more accurately than the spring-loaded stock model.
It is hydraulic. It senses the tension regardless of temperature.
WTF?
Two people on this thread have tried it and loved it.
47 people have bashed it (while never trying it).
Clueless. Totally clueless! "I'll come clunking right by you". bwahahaha!!!
Speaketh about chit you know of, don't make assumptions about stuff you don't know of.
Another thought. Every time you have a loud clunk, you are adding wear to something.
Take a pc of metal and "clunk" it against your pipes. Leave a mark?
Well keep on clunking your gear teeth 50 times a day.
I highly doubt you'll be "clunking" past me on the side of any road.
I prefer a smooth quiet shift. So sue me.

These new tensioners are not a MANUAL tensioner (that keeps getting tighter and tighter).
