Two pages of (mostly) sarcastic replies, and not one post that mentions anything about poor primary chain adjustment being a possible cause of clunk.

The OP installed a Hydraulic primary chain adjuster, and no one thinks that it may have helped his shifting?

Is it not remotely possible that by adding this primary chain adjuster, that he has a more accurately adjusted chain?
Any of you think that a properly adjusted chain can to improve a shift?

Why is the clunk a problem? Harleys have always clunked. I wouldn't buy a Harley without the clunk. Then again, you could always buy a rice burner. I hear they are clunkless.

My 02 RKC didn't clunk like my 09 SG, not even close. I've read that pulling in the clutch a few times before shifting reduces the problem, but it doesn't help mine. I don't have a clue why the hydraulic adjuster would make a difference, but my primary chain is so loud that I can't hear the top end chatter and I'm interested to see if this might solve that problem as well.

Just for information purposes, I have switch to a ATF in the primary and while I think my clutch feels better now, it didn't reduce the clunk.

I adding the OreganHotBike chain adjuster and Dextron to the primary, I don't know which of these did the trick or if it's a combination of the two but it has eliminated the clunk.
No good deed goes unpunished! Good for you man and thanks for the post.

Yep....checked with my local dealer today about that. He said you void your warranty when you take the clunk out!

Oh and a properly adjusted primary chain will not stop the tranny from having a clunk IMHO. It might help by removing some of the drive line play.

C'mon now; the "OH CRAP" in caps, and "something broke" are sarcastic/ironic phrasing. No surprise that many of the replies took a similar approach and tone.

Enjoy the "clunkless" shifting and fondly remember the clunk; like some might miss the "good ol' days" when you wouldn't take a Harley out without a couple extra spark plugs, a quart of oil, and a good tool kit.

I've actually been looking for a high performance clunk enhancer (in chrome of course)
