When there is NO PRBLEM they dont fix it, kinda like the trans clunk that IS NOT a problem and the stock comp that IS NOT a problem or the 5th gear whine that IS NOT a problem. NONE of these has ever failed, just caused whining owners!
My compensator failed. All the way failed. Bike warranty gone within 30 days of purchase due to mods. I didn't 'mind and I ain't complaining.
But the stock comp is junk and they ain't doing anything to make it better.

I remember when they fixed the crank issue. They fixed it by increasing the allowed run-out to .012. They are still shipping them in excess of .005. (not all, but more than a few).
That is unacceptable.

Holy Crap 18 pages of clunkity clunk.

Only wanted to make a few comments. 1st no offence to OP but its DEXRON. Probably you used DEXRON IV. Made with friction modifiers to make smooth shifting cars. If your going to use ATF, USE TYPE F! Your clutch will thank you. Yea it won't kill your clutch right away...but it will kill the clutch eventually.

Hey! Thanks for tellin' us about your failed crank!

I haven't heard of one go bad in the last few weeks, and I thought that maybe Harley had "fixed" this known issue. My bad. He he!

Failed HOW?

Spring pack got so ridiculously weak that it would bottom out too easily - banging the crank, rather than cushion the crank (like it was supposed to do). You know about not being able to beat on these vulnerable cranks, right?.
It would bottom out at the drop of a hat. Bang!

Not sure I seen a starter clunk mentioned on this thread. Mine wasn't starter clunk. My compensator bottomed out on acceleration. Giving my crank a nice wallop every time.
