This is the sort of thing that would/will turn people against Harley- Davidson, and I wouldn't blame them, either. After spending a boatload of money on a brand new motorcycle, it doesn't run right and you have to spend even more money to get it right instead of the dealer. That is just not right. It's the companies responsibility, not the new owner. I would be steaming mad.

If your dealer refuses to fix it call another dealer. If they won't fix it call HD MoCo directly and remind them what a saftey hazard this is because if it spits or coughs when your pulling into traffic and the engine stalls then you have a severe problem. They will fix it.

Coughing and spitting when cold is the nature of big twins.
That has to be one of the most ridiculous [sm=bs.gif] comments I have heard!

It was not a comment it was a fact, the original question was about a "stock bike" which are shipped from the factory with a very lean condition due to new EPA regulations, some will cough and sputer when not warmed up and you try and ride off, same as the EVO'S with carbs did in the nineties if you tried to drive off before a 5 minute warm up., If you want to talk "BS" then lets here some more of that Hard Khrome propagada.LOL

I agree with the quote above. Also, make sure your bike is properly warmed up and if it still does it, don't take "no" for an answer. Go to the dealership and drop one of their bikes and say "it slipped" there's nothing I could do.

Well I got the bike back from the shop, the 25 degree inj were not installed cause they couldn't reproduce the problem...whatever. I installed the PCIII tuner that afternoon(really easy to install too.) Like magic, no more coughs, no pop on decel. the PCIII is a godsend.
