Goatskin is more supple and that translates directly to comfort.

Goat hides are smaller and that can result in a design with more segments within a garment. Specifically Langlitz pants have a seam above the knee. This is not a problem, just a difference.

Goatskin is about 25% tougher than cowhide so goatskin jackets can be a little lighter than cowhide and achieve the same degree of protection.

Cowhide tends to get stiffer with weathering and age especially if leather treatment/dressing applications are few and far between.

Thanks Dave... that's great information to know. I checked with Langlitz and the waiting time is currently about 1 month. Not bad for a custom piece.

Cowhide for riding jackets, goatskin for pants and lightweight jackets or shirts.

Durability and almost a broken in feel right off the bat. Once you put your crease's where your body bends the jacket becomes almost part of you. It fits that well.

As previously mentioned the durability of the hide does facilitate being a bit lighter. I
FYI, Navy and USMC fight jackets are goat skin. My Dads is well over 40 years old.

Also don't feel bad calling the shop and asking 50 questions. They are very helpful in that regard

I'd just hate to spend that much and then have my "middle age spread" pop up (again) and it not fit!!!! Guess spending that much could be an incentive to keep the weight off!!
