Default Motor mounts

My '08 FLHTC is about to hit 25K miles and I want to check the motor mounts, so;

1. What's the correct procedure to check the motor mounts?
2. What should I be looking for?

Thanks!

If your motor is missing then I would suspect defective motor mounts.

Motor is not "missing", buzz on footboards and front vibration specially when downshifting and braking. Just want to check them out.

Thanks

I would look closely at the front mount near the oil filter. If it is bad it would look smashed allowing metal to metal contact.

I was told with my 07 Road King that if a motor mount broke it would feel like the motor was trying to jump out of the frame.

It doesn't have to be quite that collapsed in order to pass on a lot of vibration. A couple of the aftermarket mounts are far superior to the factory replacement. Both Glide Pro and Velva Ride are excellent choices. Rather than rubber, they both use urethane which doesn't break down like the rubber mounts. Really high quality pieces. Do a google search and check out their websites. I've got the Velva Ride on mine.

If you still have warranty on it take it to shop have em look or replaced em if not look for dried up cracked rubber or oil soaked soft mushiness new ones are tough built but that leads to more vibrations compare to 04 or earlier ones .

Doesn't the urethane ones transfer a little more vibration compared to rubber?

I put a Velva Ride on mine and it shakes less at idle, but I do feel a slight buzz in the floorboards from time to time. Not steady while going down the interstate, but just every once in a while.
