If it's not covered under manufactures warranty, it should at least be covered under battery manufactures warranty. Either way dealer should take of this.

+1 on the tender - Also agree, start with testing the battery - simple things first - And by all means, check with the dealer and double check the wording in the warranty...

This reminds me of an experience I had a year or two back. I decided to "treat myself" to having my bike serviced before a major road trip (just didn't have time to do it myself). It turned out to be a huge mistake.

The shop put in a new battery insisting it was made by the same company that made the H-D batteries. Just a few months later I had all kinds of problems - bike wouldn't start, bike would die etc. etc.

So I took the battery back to the shop and the load tested it then pronounced the battery was fine and would I like to get a service appointment for them to rip my bike apart and replace the alternator - it'd only cost a grand or so . . .

Nice - so I went to the H-D dealer and bought a real H-D battery and I've been trouble free since! The shop in case anyone is interested is/was CyclPath in Kirkland WA and I strongly suggest anyone reading this avoid them like the plague. The f*&@ up on the battery wasn't the only thing they screwed up on. I had to fix my bike during the road trip to correct several other screw-ups they were responsible for (leaking primary, misaligned rear-wheel, slipping clutch . . . the list goes on and on).

Take bike to dealer and tell them the problem. They probably wont help you if you just take the battery. Same thing happened to my sister in laws bike.
