Default wind deflector under faring by forks??

I have road glide that I have been having buffeting problems with, I have added a clearview gt large sheild which helped but I will be adding Hogg Chopps soon. What is with the wind deflector plate under the fairing between the forks, I have heard of some people taking this off when installing factory lowers. Anyone take off, what was the effect, thnks JL

Save your pennies and try the desert dawgs. http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/CTGY/DAWGS.html?gclid=CNHl0_Dy-Z8CFQg63godzX0uWw

I was back & forth with the full lowers and I'm happy to say the desert dawgs did the job for a 1/4 of the price!

I have used Desert Dawgs on other bikes before, but on a harley (especially in a hot climate, Im in the california desert area) they raise the engine temp buy about 30 degrees. I tested these on the road glide with an oil temp gauge, they restrict air flow to the engine harley says not to use them over 50 degrees temp. Hog chops tested on my friends road glide lowers oil temps by about 10 degrees, more air directed to engine. Have to leave the lowers on year round do to the buffeting with a road glide but thanks anyway for the feedback, JL

I'd leave the baffle on. Keeps some of that nasty air coming up between the tank and the fairing. I really don't believe that it will make that big of a difference with your engine temperatures either way, but I do think it will with the buffering.

I also would leave the lower fork baffle on I does a good job deflecting some air from coming up around the front of the tank as well as it directs some of that air to help cool the front of the engine. Just my two cents.
