She would fall down, at least that's what my wife did. Oh and she weighs 119 lbs. The bolt sheared off with half left of it in the hole. After examining the bolt it was obvious that the bolt was over stress when it was installed. A small crack that continued to grow over 2 years through fatigue. It was holding on by a thread when she stepped on it. I wouldn't over tighten these bolts or you will be back with the same problem, use the recommended torque in the manual and blue locktite.
That is what I hope never happens My wife wouldn't get on again if that had happen to her.
The bolt on mine broke at the first thread. They were torqued at the dealer, two years ago. So I assume the bolt is sub standard from the factory.
I have heard of this happening and replaced the
factory HD bolts (even though they were supposedly
grade 8 bolts) with some other grade 8 that I got
locally., let us know how it turns out.
Thanks for that info. I should know tomorrow what the dealer has to say.
I just want to know, the bolts that broke, Did you use the mounts as tie down points before ?? A friend of mine had one broke on the trailer after trying down too tight. After reading this, my next mod will be a trip to Ace Hardware and replace the factory bolts with grade 8.
