Default Scissor Lift Jacks

I know there have been plenty of threads about jacks and lifts for touring bikes; and I know it is foolish to risk putting my $25K passion on an improper lift. However, I am looking for a lift that will simply allow me to safely get the bike high enough off the ground to clean the wheels and clean or get under the bike. So, if I can find a lift that does that safely without spending a lot, then I'll be a happy camper. In surfing ebay, I found some scissor lift jacks for bikes that cost between $50 and $80. One thing I like about this type of lift as compared to the Harbor Freight style lifts that have been discussed at length here is that the scissor lift allows you to access both sides of the bike while it is on the lift. What do people think of these lifts. Here's a link to one as an example:

Us table lift guys use those scissor lifts to lift the rear wheel off the table lift to change. They work good. Personally, if you only want to lift the rear wheel to clean, you could make one real cheap out of wood and a pipe.

HERE's a link to build your own. Since you have a tourer, it would simply be a taller piece of wood like a 2x8

Red face

I've had a scissor jack for 3 years and a Harbor Freight for over a year. Today I ordered a J&S. You can get around the bike fine with this jack and never worry about piece of mind. Spend the money now for a good jack and you'll never look back. Then you won't be like me with two junk jacks and one awesome, worry free jack for a lifetime. With that 25k investment spend $400 and feel great about it. Sorry if this came off like a sermon. Good luck with your choice!
