Yes the speedo and tach are sealed. When you take the speedo and tach out of the inner fairing you will see the bezel lip on the back side and you can just bend the lip out to get the plastic housing loose. then pull the needle and number faceplate out and that gives you access to the circut board where the LED's are. You have to use a soldering iron to get them out and put the new ones back in. When you are done just reassemble and crimp the lip of the bezel back down. My odometer uses the same LED's as the rest of the speedo so I was able to make it blue also. Here is a link to the LED's I used.

And yes I replaced the bulbs in the 4 smaller gauges with WLEDx5 wedge base bulbs from here

Like i said before the pics dont do them justice as some of the others that had them done will tell you same.

How many LED's to do the speedo and tach? Mine is an 03, so hopefully my odometer will be the same ones too!

I took the lenses out of my tour pack today and replaced the factory 194 bulbs with these strips. I had to drill out the rivets that hold the factory light socket then cut the strip in half to fit onto the bracket. I had to soder the two pieces back together. They look great, the factory had 4 bulbs on each side and now there are 16 on each side.
