Default 2007 FLHT Standard oil temp guage question

I am looking at filling in the guages on my Standard and want to get the oil temp guage rather than the air temp. Has anyone installed this guage ? Does installation include drilling into the oil tank ? Thanks ...

I installed the oil gauge on my 2009 FLHT. NO you don't have to drill anything. It's an easy install. I tried to get the HD gauge but it was backordered forever. There is an aftermarket gauge out there that looks just like the factory one for less money. Check it out!

Thanks for the response but I can't find a oil temperature guage any where ? Do you have anything that will help me narrow my search ?

No drilling required...sending unit attaches to oil pan.

It an easy mod. There is a pictorial on how to do it step by step here on the forum. I've thought of it, but then it's just another gauge that may freak me out from time to time, so I figured that sometimes too much info isn't necessarily a good thing.

This .pdf from H-D should help you out with some of your questions... some here have stated they didn't even drain the oil to install the adapter and sending unit.

Thanks for all the great info, especially that article out of the service manual. That says it all. I'll be ordering the guage this week end, as soon as I get done "snow blowing" the drive way so I can get out of the house!
