Default Dunlop E3 Users - MU90 or 160/80 Rear???

Thinking of going with the Elite 3's for replacements on my '06 FLHX. What are most guys doing on the rear... The MU90 or 160/80? By looking at the spec sheets, the 160 is about 5/8" wider. Is the extra width worth the $30 price difference???

MU90B16 on the rear, MT90B16 front. You should have ordered them from Cycle Gear last night on their 20% off after hour sales. I got my front and rear for $173.58 total for the both to my door.

I used the MU90B16 on my older ('99), narrower wheeled RK. I would think you would want the 160.

I had the 160 on first and went back to the MU90. Looks cool but is a little taller, both seem to be. It lasted 9500 miles vs. 7500 for the 402. The thing I didn't like is when it wore it seemed the edge transition from straight to curves was more pronounced if that makes sense. Probable just me but I ride in the mt. alot. I just put the MU90 and the bike feels quicker in the transition (mainly because it's new) but to me not worth the difference in price to look cool. Yes I know fat tires are in.

I have an 07 electra glide classic and I just put the 160/80 on the rear. I only got a very quick ride after doing it(<10 mi.), so I can't say how it handles. I am really shocked to hear that GMC only got 9500 out of it. If that is the case for me, then next time I am going to the MU90. I want a tire to last longer than 1 season.

That's what I got on my '06 Ultra. Works great, lasts a long time, (drains to the bilge )

for those who put the elite 3 160 on the rear - was it a straight tire swap or were mods needed - if so what mods?

In case you missed this thread, last week
ALL the specs can be read at http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/tirecatalog.asp
according to Dunlop...
the OEM Dunlop (D-407 opps!) D-402 MU85B16 is 25.71 inches tall, by 5.2 inches wide 908 load rating
the MT90B16 is 25.71 inches tall, by 5.15 inches wide
the MU90B16 is 25.72 inches tall by 5.57 inches wide
the 160/80/16 is 26.1 inches tall, by 6.1 inches wide
the 160 is almost one full inch wider than the oem

I went with the MU90 which is close to OEM, as you'll get, and has a greater load rating (930 vs 908), and only 0.37inches wider than OEM...(about 3/8 total wider)

I put a E3 160/80 on my stock '08 EG.
Straight up swap.
It's kinda close to the belt guard but fits no problem.
Seems a lot of people here use that tire without issue.
