I still have the 83 shovel I bought new! Figured it was time to buy another bike, wanted a bagger so I bought a TC FLTRI I love it no compliants. You know the old saying (When the last EVO dies there're still be a Shovel around to BURY it ) LOL!!! Just kidding, quite a few of my friends have them, and luv em, great bike, good motors. They replaced the Shovel so I couldn't buy one! Seems like a lot of that going on here to!!!!

Just wait folks, there'll be a new used market for the TC88 in 10 years since we have this throw away mentality. Damn. I did fall pray to the OOOHH look @ the TC 96in. I'm not following the pack, there better be 100,000 miles on my FLHRI before I go new again. GOOD comment EVOS did save the MOCO!!!! 80 inchers saved the day and still going strong!!!!

Being almost older than dirt, I remember when the Evo's first came out. The Shovelhead guys were indignant. "That's not a REAL Harley!", they said. The previous generation, so I've been told, said the same thing when HD went from the Panhead to the Shovelhead. So I'm not surprised that there are a few reluctant to fully embrace the TC. To each his own, it's all good. Love the bike(s) you have or give it/them to me!!
My personal fetish is the Evo. I worked in both sales and service at a Harley dealership and rode them all, Shovels, Evo's, and TC's, and enjoyed them all. But most of my experience, and memories, have been with Evo's, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that Evo's would be near and dear to me personally. I'd also rather have my old '66 Tri-Power 4 speed GTO back again than have a new Z06 Vette as well, but that isn't to say that the Goat is a better car, because it certainly isn't, it's just better for me.
We sold our last Harley, an '86 Liberty Edition FLHTC, in '89. At the time, we'd had a lot of close calls on the road and wanted to be as absolutely sure as we could be that we would be the ones to raise our three children, so we sold it. It was hard, but that was our choice and we never regretted it. Now my oldest two children, boys, ride motorcycles and I got the fever again.
I could have written a check for any bike I wanted, and was considering a new '06 Ultra. That is, until I saw the '91 Ultra Evo advertised in E-Bay. Gasp. I knew it was the one, just like I did back when I bought the Liberty. To me, this was a "real Harley"! I rode it the 180 miles home to Maine from New Hampshire yesterday. A couple of times I couldn't hold back the tears, the old softy that I am. Liberty indeed! I'll post a picture soon.
In time, the TC's will earn their own following, and it will be entirely deserved, I'm sure. In fact, many of them already have. Whatever follows the new design won't be considered a real Harley for awhile either. And maybe 18 years from now, an almost older than dirt grandfather will regain his "Liberty", on a Twin Cam 88!
