V&H Oval slip-ons or V&H True Dual with the Oval slip-ons
I have a 2006 RK Clasic and will be doing the Stage 1 upgrade. Thanks to the group
I think I'm all set with the SERT vs. PCIII issue.
For the pipes I'm not sure whether to go with just the V&H Oval slip-ons or replace
the entire exhaust with the V&H True Duals with the V&H Oval slip-ons. Just curious
what others experiences with these setups have been and recommendations.
Thanks!

I just did this on my bike. Did the ovals first, liked it alot. Not too loud, only when you cracked on the throttle.
Then, I bought the true duals and added them on. It's louder now, but not obnoxius. I'm still getting use to the seprated exhaust noise, Sounds different. Can really hear the seperation between pipes while driving.
If I were to do it again, I would do the true duals and the ovals together.

Thanks Denis. I want some more sound out of my pipes, but I don't want
them too loud. How has the performance been on your bike after going
with both the True Duals and the Ovals?

I think it has a bit more mid range now, but it's hard to say. I don't think you lose any power, but unsure if you gain it.
It seems to be a hot topic with some folks, some say yes, some say no. - I know that I am happy with the results.

RE: V&H Oval slip-ons or V&H True Dual with the Oval slip-ons
Has anybody heard the v&h true duals with oval slipons compared to rineharts, and if so the difference in sound loudness, tone etc. I'am trying to decide between the two systems any help would be appreciated.
I have the V&H true dual and ovals, and have heard the Rineharts. I think they both sound good, probably would rate the Rinharts a bit better on sound, but not as loud as the V&H. Rineharts make a bit more power, but not much, from what I researched. I too had a hard time deciding, but found a great deal on ebay for the V&H setup, thus went with it.
And I am not sorry that I did!

Denis,
Another question if you don't mind. How do you find the highway noise
when cruising with them. I like to do some long trips on the RK and
am wondering how loud these pipes sound at highway speeds. I don't
want to annoy myslef....
Thanks.

Denis,
How do you think it looks without the crossover pipe? I've never
seen one without the crossover pipe, but I hear it looks much
nicer/cleaner.
