Need Help with Tire Balancing
#22
I hate to rain on everyones parade, but I have replaced many tires on many bikes and I have NEVER balanced any of them. Never had any problems. If I ever change a tire and find that I have a handling problem, maybe I will rethink this, but for now, I put the tire on and run it.

FYI - Picked up a Dunlop tire brochure from the Bike show and in the back under warranty it states that the use of dry or wet products placed inside the tire for balancing voids the warranty. I have only used a tire warranty once in all the many tires I have used so this would not stop me from using these products, but thought it was good to know.

This is my third time being a newly wed. I obviously like getting married, but apparently have trouble after the wedding. LOL Take my advice - if ya got a good one, keep her. If ya got a bad one, RUN! I ran twice and did not regret it. I'm too old and beat-up to run now, so I'm gonna have to mellow out and learn how to live with this one.

That works for balanced wheels, and a properly molded tire.
But what about:
Those tires that will be traveling over 75 mph a lot.
Those tires that are on unbalanced rims. (my front has 2 20oz. slugs)
Those tires that you want to last over 8k miles?
I've been looking into these beads, since I've always done my own tires. I've had jumpers, smooth ones, and some that just acted funny in curves. I'll be buying the beads, since ten bucks in a tire change sounds like good insurance to me...not to mention that the tire should last longer.
I've not really seen any bad press on these things yet. Everybody seems to like them.
