MAX current draw from accessory/cig lighter?
#14
I foudn that when dealing with wiring acc into the bike, make your own line with wire that excedes what you want to do with it, then add in a switch or use an existing acc switch, and wire it so it only is useable when the bike is on to avoid killing your battery.
To answer your specific question:
According to Harley,
The cig lighter is set for 15 amps, including the wires.
The wires excede the need for a 15 amp draw. You will see that the warnings int he service manual say that the cig lighter is not for accessories. But cars have the same warning. It is designed for 15 amps. It is wired for 15 amp max.
Check the specs/reqs on your heated gear and ensure that they dont excede this.
If they pull the full 15 amp for extended periods of time, you MAY run into issues down the road.
