Smile Harley-Harmon Kardon Amp Installed

I just installed the amp on my '06 Ultra and it is 100% better than stock. I have the J&M speaker upgade front and rear. The fronts have the tweeter. They came out with mid-range and tweeter just after I changed (imagine that). The rear speakers could be better after the the amp,but the fronts are fine. You have to remove the fairing, tank, seat, battery and tour pak liner for the install. Once that is done the install is easy and neat. I bought the amp on E-Bay and the harness from Zanotti's for less than half of the dealer price. "08's and lower only need the amp and wiring harness. At 75 mph and half volume it is clear with more bass and no distortion. While the tank was off I added the chrome rocker cover bolts. They took longer than the amp install!!! I would do it all again--- great addition! Thought some would want to hear my report.

Spring is near!!

For those with permanently mounted tour paks, the HK amp kit (p/n 76418-06A) is an excellent value. My buddy installed the kit on his '06 Ultra and is very, very happy with it and his HT speakers.

The amp shows up on Ebay from time to time for under $200.

If I had a permanently mounted tour pak, I'd be looking at the HK amp.

Congrats on a successful DIY project.

Edit: If you go to HD's website and use the p/n above, the installation instructions are available as a pdf file.
