In a perfect world ABS is very cool. But you know the sentence that usually follows that one.

So I don't want anything but brake fluid between my appendages and my brake pads. And when there's no way out I want the option to lock 'em up and lay it down as leather works better preventing road rash than it does blunt trauma.

You can buy into staying upright with the wheels rolling gives you the opportunity to "steer" yourself out of trouble. But I'd say for 95 percent of us nothing much happens after, "Oh ****!"

:-)

Ask yourself this, how would you feel if one day a car pulled out in front of you and in a panic the bike started to slide and your passenger was thrown off the bike and died. How much would you be willing to spend to get her back? This happened to a friend of mine I am certian he would give anything to have prevented that accident. I will not buy another road bike without it.

The only option that must be factory installed. Don't buy one without it.

I have it on my 08 FLHR which I ordered as an option. Best investment so far to me at least. Either you hate or love ABS. But riders like you who have to ask and don't buy it when the opportunity arises will always ask yourself would I of been better off with it since it's a factory option only? I haven't read many stories of people trading in there ABS bikes for ones without it.

Hate the ABS on my 4 wheel vehicles, cannot imagine having it on a motorcycle. This comes from an aggressive rider with all my toys equipped with upgraded brakes.

IMO, if you ride/train like a motorcop then definately do not get ABS. For the rest of us, it's cheap insurance and lots of stories of keeping a bike upright. It was one key reason I traded my 2007 FLTR for a 2010 FLTRX equipped with ABS.
