Old Fall River Road in Rocky Mountain NP
Has anyone ridden this recently. I've only been up it in a car as a kid. Heading out to that area this July and I'm curious as to what kind of motorcycle road it is. Is it paved or gravel? If it's gravel what type? We rode to the top of Pikes Peak last summer with no problem.
Thanks in advance

I drove up both OFRR and PP road last year. The Old Fall River Rd is in much worse shape than PP. It is fine for the first few miles and then it really deteriorates. Tight hairpin curves, rough gravel, etc. It would be possible to ride, but make certain you take your time. Once you get past the Lawn Lake flood area is when it gets rougher, but it doesn't get really bad until you are farther up.
It is also one way up. so, once you are on the road, if it gets too bad for your bike, you can't legally turn around.
I have seen some dual purpose bikes on it, but have never seen Harleys. Course, I don't spend all my life up there so there could be some.

Fun route with something like a BMW F650GS Dakar, etc...really fun.
Personally, though, I have zero desire or need to run that on the RK. No way would it be worth it to me...would take something fun (on the right scoot) and turn it into "work" requiring a huge amount of focus and finesse to deal with it on the big twins. Sure, can be done but getting caught in the afternoon rains that time of year could take it from hassle to danger though.

Here's the word straight from the park:
Gravel, graded at the beginning of each year
15 mph max - probably slower for people taking in the views
11 miles, one way
Usually opens arounds July 4th
I've never done it in a car or bike, but at the top looking down on the road, I remember seeing a pretty constant stream of cars slowly making their way up the road. Can't imagine it'd be too much fun on a bike.
