I'm putting together the parts for a 103 build. Street pro ported heads, KB pistons 10:1, and to deal with this issue . . . S&S 570 easy start cams.

while it's torn down, i'd highly recommend installing compression releases. the reason being, is that it's far cheaper to get it done while the heads are off. even when my motor was a basically stock 96", the starter was working hard when it was a hot day with high humidity. when i'd stop for fuel, ten minutes or so, and then try to start the motor, the starter would really be working hard to start the motor. now with the 10.5 compression, no way my starter or ring gear would stand a chance in the same situation. it's your call, your money, but the manual compression releases do not require an additional wiring harness, and the compression releases, if anything goes wrong with them, at least you can replace them easily if need be, and besides they're cheaper than the automatic ones.

Thanks. I got some great advice from Don at Head Designs by Dewey. His shop is an hour away so it's a no-brainer to do business with him. Great prices, great service, and I've heard . . . outstanding work.

Check out his site here . . .
