Default Front brake question

I was up at the Harley dealership talking with a service guy and I was inquiring whether you can go to a single front rotor set up and use 1 factory Brembo caliper and a floating rotor. He said that since the Brembo is a racing caliper and heavier duty than a standard caliper and using a floating rotor is better than a standard rotor I would be ok. Have you guys ever heard or seen anyone use a standard Brembo caliper for a single side rotor conversion? I have only seen the aftermarket 6 piston ones. Thanks!!

HMMM... I agree brembe is good, but is it that good? do you really want to find out? True older bikes used to have only one cal w/ only 2 pistons but the new bikes are a lot faster and lets face it, most of us are all used to cars with power brakes and creature comforts. I say yes you would be fine if you ALWAYS left ample room for braking.

Can you promise all on the road that you will always leave ample room? I can not..too many a$$holes on the road.

Why in the world would anyone want to go to a single disc system when the bike came with dual disc?...It is your bike and your A$$ you can do anything you want to it...Front brakes are your best friends on a motorcycle if used properly...I think I would keep all 2 of them around.

As long as you did not lose any stopping power, your choice. For years that was my single biggest complaint with Harleys,The brakes! now it is all different especially since Lydall came along.
