Default Road Glide fairing removal question

Since I'm gonna be snowed in for a few days I figure I would finally crack open my fairing. I have read the process but do have a question. When removing the turn signals do you remove both nuts and pull the assembly completely out??

Also where in the service manual is fairing removal located. I looked in the index for the obvious but it wasn't there. Must be listed somewhere else.

I believe it would be listed under the chassis section. In any event, yes you remove the nuts and pull out the signal. You will see how the turn signal wiring fits in a groove, make sure it goes in the groove upon reinstall.

I just pulled mine off for the first time a couple of days ago. Yes, the turn signals will pull-out completely, but they take a little wiggling/tugging due to the wires and the small hook which holds the wire inside the fairing.

In my '09 manual, outer fairing removal was in section 2.40. I scanned the 3 pages covering this topic for you - attached. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks guys and especially thanks for that video link synergyhomes. I have always been more of a visual type of person over reading instructions. That helped a ton. Love the common sense tips that some of us would never think of like the painters tape and wrapping the signals in a shop towel.

Nice video. I leave the windshield on when removing the fairing. Didn't see a reason to take it of when taking the fairing off.

He doesn't show it in the video but make sure to protect your fender with a towel. First couple times you do this, it helps to remove the headlights so you can see how the fairing hooks line up. (if you go this route, make sure the headlight plug wires aren't hanging below the inner fairing when you attach the outer - otherwise, you'll be pulling it back off and cussing a lot. Yep, been there done that! lol)
