Default need personal well thought out opinion on this posiblle purchase

Ok, I already have a 02 night train that I have been chopping and fixing for the last 4 yrs. Only left HD is frame, gas tank and motor. But while deployed I asked the wife what she thought of me buying another bike. Surprising she is fine with it on one condition, a bigger bike with bags. Something about her comfort n it being safer for my boys to ride on. Anyways as military members you can or should save lot by buying through AAFES car sales. So I asked and I can get a street glide for 18,6 minus the 3 Ts(tax title tags). Should I do this or look for a used one on ebay/craigslist or even here. I wouldn't get the warranty though. So if u were looking for a new bike what would you do. My other option is say screw it and hurry up n finish my bike, not even sure if it will runn anymore. It wasn't stored properly but I don't have any plans on selling it since its my chopper and way too much invested or blew on it.

..... you would get the remaining warranty on an '09 & could then extend it thru yer local HD dealer. That'd be an option if you saw a screamin' deal on something lightly used.

I love my 09 SG and I have seen a lot of used ones out there for decent prices. Its worth looking into.

shop around and look for a used 09 or 10 that someone just cant afford and wants to get out from under. But yes if you can afford it get the new bike. Sounds like she wants to ride and a bagger for you her and the kids is a good idea. And then gives you the time to work on the night train with the kids and have a solo bike as well. Go for it man. Id say there are better deals out there and i watch craigslist alot and if you can find a dealer with an 09 left over they will be looking to deal on them.

I guess I would look for a used '09 or '10 touring bike. If I couldn't find anything at a good price I'd then go for the new one.

If you will be financing it, look at the rates on new vs used. Depending on the lender, it can make enough difference to make the new one cheaper in the long run. Shop rates - our CU was 8.75% on a new bike, Eaglemark (HD's financing) came in at 6.49%.

Since you already have the Chopper, get a full blown Bagger like an Ultra Classic so the 'ol lady and kids can sit in the cushy rear seat w/ all the comforts. I can't stand the 'ol dad look, but for a few bucks you can make a solid black bike look pretty cool.
