I've had zero problems with my 00 with efi, but I'd still go for the 02 because of the efi.

Can't be said any better than that.

I had a 00EGC for 10 years just got rid of it, the ONLY ISSUE I ever had from day one was very erratic idle at the end of 08, if I had the choice I would go with the 02.

Timken bearing and forged crank, IIRC.

Nothing wrong with either bike, no reason to avoid the 2000. Personally, I'd go with the 2000. I've had ZERO problems with my '01. The mileage on the 2000 is one-half, which is how vehicles are book valued where I come from. I've never seen a HD with a broken swingarm. The EFI? Only the ECM was changed from Magneti-Marelli to Delphi. The rest of the EFI system on the '02 (and newer HD models) is still made by Magneti-Marelli, they are one of HD's largest contractors. The intake was changed from a dual to single throat, but Gerolomy's bored out my maniforld 4mm and I have no complaints. There are some differences between the two EFI systems, but as an experienced owner of one, they are of no significance whatsoever. Newer is always better in the minds of most buyers, so you'll likely buy a newer-model bike thinking it's so much better. That's how the MoCo stays in business, after all.
