A Standard an Ipod and a dream.
If this is on here somewhere already I'm sorry, I couldn't find it. I have a Standard and I want music but don't really want to lose the little glove box that I have. So I was thinking about just installing speakers and trying to hook my Ipod up to them and bypass a radio all together. The question I have is whether or not anyone has ever done this before and how they did it. My guess is that I would need some sort of amp to boost the volume. Is this correct? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

It's doable.
Here is link to a company that has solutions, there are a bunch of them out there.

For the IPOD, they make small 2 channel mini ampliphers (150 watts) that the IPOD can feed directly to - and then you can wire 2 speakers to the amp. it's small and you can find a home for the amp and wireing under the fairing and still keep your box.
also, for the IPOD you can run a power converter as well so you can have the bike supply the power vs the ipod battery.
we did a similar setup on my buddies bike and it worked out great.

If you just need an good working inline amplifier without going crazy an a whole big deal try http://www.boostaroo.com
They have battery powered, 12volt powered, usb powered. And they amplify up to 400X/ Pretty cool little device.

Thanks everyone for the info!
89FLHT, that is pretty much exactly what I was thinking. I went to that site and the only one I could find was one that said it was 500 watt. Was this the one that you were talking about?
